2012: A Year in Review

As usual here is my 2012 in outfits. Happy New Year to you all. What a year it has been. I can’t believe it is almost 2013; to me 2013 seemed like one of those futuristic years that was so far away that it would never arrive! Objectively 2012 may seem like a rather successful year for me; I got married, finished my law degree and moved into my own apartment but I have to say it has actually been the worst year of my life; I’ve felt extremely depressed for most of the year. I’ve had a lot to deal with; many negative situations occurred which I decided not to write about on my blog. For example, I have been unemployed for the entire year and I don’t think much else can damage one’s self esteem as much as unemployment does. I feel like a loser, despite having two university degrees, and I am angry at myself for not being able to do what the rest of the world does every day. Now I have no confidence to even look for jobs, I am so scared because I am so convinced I will fail. As a result, I spend an incredible amount of time by myself often having no motivation to get out of bed because my life often seems pointless (I don’t know what I’d do without my blog; I’d go even more crazy). I’m stuck in a negative cycle and I feel like I can’t change. There are other aspects of my life I need to sort out too. It just goes to show that happiness is the most important thing, rather than success or achievements of material objects. Well maybe happiness is success.

Well I didn’t expect to engage in such rambling about my life. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I desperately hope that 2013 is a much better year that 2012 and that it brings me some happiness. Anyway, best wishes to you all for the new year. Thanks for reading my blog xoxoxoxox

It goes without saying that my wedding dress was my favourite outfit for 2012:

  1. Hi dear, loved viewing these snippets of your incredible style. wanted to wish you a fun, fulfilling and fabulous New Year. May it bring you much happiness, love and success!

  2. You had some wonderful outfits this year! I really love your style. And yes: your wedding dress was absolutely stunning.
Also I'm envious of your shoe collection: they're all so pretty.

  3. Happy New Year! I've very much enjoyed your blog over 2012 and I'm looking forward to seeing more in 2013. I hope that 2013 brings you all the happiness that you definitely deserve!

  4. I have to say I am so sorry I haven't been in contact as often as I would have liked to have been – life got in the way! Also, you look stunning in your wedding dress, I hope the day was everything you wanted it to be and all these outfits are making me want to raid your wardrobe – love them! Happy 2013 lovely 🙂 xxx

  5. You certainly did a lot of lovely outfit posts in 2012, but I don't think any of them comes close to the beauty of that princess wedding dress. It's gorgeous. I love the tiara and the setting for that photo too. As for your depressed state, well I'm pretty accomplished at getting depressed myself. Please don't beat yourself up about the nations economy. You weren't in charge of that. Have courage to change what you can and the serenity to accept what you can't. I really think you've done brilliantly.

I adored the way you looked in that princess Wedding dress. Those photos and memories are keepers.

The rest of the world has plenty of problems too. I'm sure you are eminently qualified for any job you seek. Trust yourself and the Higher Power. I wish you, your family and your new hubby a healthy, wealthy and very Happy New Year in 2013. 🙂

  6. I seriously cannot get over what a gorgeous bride you were. I am OBSESSED with your dress – gorgeous!

I think my second favorite look would have to be the sequin cardi with the pink skinny jeans – so cute! 🙂

  7. You looked beautiful on your wedding day – and in all of the other outfits you've shared. You have a really good eye for how to wear colour well 🙂

Sorry that 2012 has been such a downer for you – but 2013 things can only get better! Just try applying for one job and see how you go. Maybe work up to applying for 2, or 3. You write well on your blog, I can imagine your CV and cover letter you write just as well if not better. You can do anything you set your mind to this year! 🙂

  8. Gorgeous wedding dress. And you have the most adorable dresses on the web!

So sorry to hear about how your 2012 went being unemployed. But I do believe that 2013 will be a great year for you. Maybe you have to find a way to get out of your rut and do something different. Maybe start your own business or something. Hope you're enjoying 2013 so far!

  9. Aw you look so pretty in all of your little dresses! I love your style. It's so feminine and adorable.
I hope things in the employment department start looking up for you soon. Keep your head up! It'll work out and everything will fall into place. Maybe work on other things you wouldn't otherwise have time for if you were working. Like take up another hobby! I believe in you! Everything will turn out fine.
