2010: A Year in Review

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I can’t believe 2010 is over already. I know we all say such things at the end of every year but 2010 has definitely felt like the fastest year of my life. It has also been the most difficult and worst year of my life. I won’t go into details because it has already been well documented on my blog. Some very important things have changed in my life in 2010 and unfortunately I don’t think they can ever go back to the way they were. On a more positive note a few good things did happen to me in 2010:
-Rydog and I became engaged
-I completed a Bachelor of Commerce degree
-My beautiful kitten Juliette came into my life

I have mixed feelings towards new years resolutions because I don’t think its possible to change as soon as the new year comes around in an overnight transformation. I think that change is more of a gradual process and if the change needs to be made then it doesn’t necessarily have to coincide with the new year. I often think my goals for a year are too ambitious because I only achieved two of the eleven goals that I set for myself a year ago. However, I will list some of my goals for 2011 even if some of them are not entirely realistic:
-spend less money on clothes and shoes
-save for the future especially for a wedding and a house
-pass my fourth year at university
-become more confident
-learn how to manage my anxieties and solve all my issues which stem from this
-strengthen existing relationships
-learn how to apply eyeshadow
-learn how to curl my hair without a hot iron
-widen personal boundaries and possibly take more risks
-continue blogging and pursue my interest in fashion
-become more independent
-achieve happiness, peace and a more positive outlook on life
-straighten my hair less

At the conclusion of 2010 I thought it would be appropriate to review some of the outfits that I wore during the year. Here are some of my favourites that I posted at some point in 2010.

  2. You're always such a picture of poise and femininity, Imogen. I had no idea you and your boy were engaged? Did I miss this blog post. Very belated congratulations and I'm very excited for you both.

I have a workmate who also has severe anxiety issues. I have no idea how difficult it can be but I wish you well for that particular NY resolution.

  4. Well said, Imogen. I have mixed feelings about new year's resolutions, too. The process of setting goals for oneself should be gradual and throughout the year, not just come January 1. With that said, I hope this year is good to you and that as the months go by you find the strength and confidence you're aiming for.

Beautiful recap of photos. You are always so elegant and lovely. The picture of poise, as Ana B. said πŸ™‚

2010 was definitely a crazy year for me too and I'm amazed that after a difficult year studying, I made it in the end! Thank you for the graduation wishes. I am so proud of you to completing your degree after a difficult year with it!! Seriously congrats again to you too for that!

Hope you have a wonderful new year Imogen. You really deserve it!!

  6. These are definitely some of your BEST outfits and I remember them all! πŸ™‚

I also want to say, I think your resolutions for 2011 are terrific and very achievable. It's funny, but I also want to learn how to apply eye shadow (without looking like a clown, lol) and also learn how to curl my hair without a heating instrument. πŸ˜›

I know 2010 has been an insane year for you. A total roller coaster ride. But I am so proud of you for becoming such a strong woman throughout all your stress and difficulties. You made it! You will look back on 2010 as a triumph, I believe. If you can survive this year, you can survive anything!

I hope with all my heart that 2011 is a year filled with happiness, love, laughter, and relaxation for you. You definitely deserve it.

I love you!! Happy New Year! xoxo
